This day was another exciting day, because we had new visitors! We started with an awesome game led by Speaker Jaeriel.

This game is like "Blow Wind Blow" but with a twist. The person in the centre says something like: "Blow those who are wearing red." And everyone who was wearing red has to get up and find another seat. If you can't find a place to sit, you will have to choose one of the four words written out on the whiteboard and expand on it, explaining what it means to you and how it is applicable to you. The four words Jaeriel chose were "Education," "Friendship," "Boldness," and "Discipline."

One person said that education is very important because it will help the country's economy. We also had another speaker expanding on the word "Discipline," because, during our preparations for college or sports, we have to be disciplined to do all the responsibilities which have been laid out for us. This game not only gives us some exercise, but it also teaches us to really dig into our brains. We all benefited from it.

After the icebreaker, Speaker Jemima led us in our devotions. She spoke about how we should learn to respect authority and the key elements in doing it. We then watched Part 3 of the S.O.A.P. video on how to respect authority. In the video, the girl just refuses to help the older teacher pass out the papers, and guess what? She was captured by the ICC police! ( haha)

After the video, we discussed about how she should have reacted and responded. Jemima then shared on how we could apply the character of showing respect in the chapter. We also had a very good time of discussion on how to show respect for the time, to the coaches, and so on.
After that we had our Chapter Sponsor, Coach Joseph to share a few things on effective communication!!!! Coach Joseph then invited Coach James to say a few words about his trip to the U.S., why he decided to sign his son up for ICC and how it has helped/changed him.

Then Coach Joseph took back the platform and showed us what is required of a leader....

Above all, a leader must be.........CLEAR!

We need to be clear in speech; giving the right and clear instructions is what is required the most to be a clear leader. When we want to lead well, we must speak well.
Coach Joseph showed us a funny video about the world's ineffective language most popularly used by youth today. We learned that an impactful manner of speech utilizes the sense of authority. We also discussed about the words that we ourselves use that are not 'Clear.'

There was "Whatever," "Okay lah," "Awesome," "Cool," "Maybe," "Good," "Dunno," "Something like that," "Dunno lah," and even more that we did not list down. Boy, it was then that we realised that as a leader, we cannot use these words to communicate, or people will get confused.

How to handle a microphone.

Coach Alfred taught us that, when we introduce a speaker, we should not leave the platform empty. To let us practice this skill, he gave us a session during which we would introduce another speaker. It was a great opportunity to practice giving an introduction and handling the microphone.

He also taught us how to handle a mic and a mic stand. We actually should not test the mic when we get on stage or blow into it. We should actually test it way before the event has started and 'play' with the mic stand. So if you get on stage and find that the mic is not at your level, you can then smoothly adjust it according to your height and not fumble around, finding the appropriate knob to turn.

After the skill coaching by Coach Alfred, we had our portfolio coaches take over, and we got back to our usual places to get on with our portfolios.
In our speech coaching, a few of us presented our interpretation speech. We enjoyed watching and listening to the different stories portrayed.
After tea break and a time of fellowship, the speakers got together to practice our Chapter presentation that will soon take place in a homeschool conference.
