Epic Speeches and Chinese New Year! (Mar 1, 2015)

Welcome to the first March 2015 ICC Chapter Meeting!

Our meeting began with an icebreaker led by Speaker Jern Yoong. We were divided into four groups to discuss 2 questions:

- If you could be a vegetable, what vegetable would be and why?
- If you could choose your age, how old would you want to be and why?

OK! So what vegetable do we want to be?

 Hee hee!

Worship was a joyful time.
Speakers Jaeriel and Nathanael led us to sing the songs "In His Time" and "In Christ Alone."

"In Christ alone I put my trust"

Before we proceeded to devotions, Coach Joseph drew our attention to the phrase "I feel smarter," spoken to him after a training session. We had a discussion on what the statement meant. When speaking, we should focus not on impressing others, but focus on our audience. Instead of speaking for self-glory, we should gear our speeches toward our audience and bless them with what we have to say. So when we hear the phrase "I feel smarter," or something similar from the audience, we should be glad that God has used our words to enlighten others.
It was a good reminder to focus on making others feel "smarter" instead of focusing on making ourselves look smart and important.

After the discussion, Dad and I shared about speaking words that bring life to others. One of the main verses we referred to was Ephesians 4:29- "Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers".

Eliza went first with the Three Little Pigs from Revolting Rhymes by Roald Dahl. Next was Jaeriel with his story of The Two Builders.

We were duly entertained by Jern Yoong's "Adam Raccoon and the Race to Victory Mountain" by Glen Keane, Ian's "The Cat in the Hat" by Dr. Seuss, Ranen's "Talk" by Harold Courlander and George Herzog, and Eunice's excerpt from "The Horse and his Boy" from C.S.
