Do Re Mi!

Welcome to our 9th ICC meeting!

We were glad to be back together again for another time of learning, practicing, and growing.

Before we started, the coaches gathered and discussed about our chapter's progress. They talked about what we should start applying in our meetings, what we should stop doing, and what we should continue doing.

While the coaches held their discussion, the speakers gathered to hold a practice session to rehearse scenes for the coming up movie! It was certainly a time full of laughter!

Then Charis conducted an exciting icebreaker. In this activity, everyone stood in a circle and took turns adding to a story. It was interesting and very amusing to see the story start from Little Red Riding Hood and end with a pink, magical elephant and Tarzan! It was a very good impromptu speaking exercise.

Then Coach Joseph went through with us the acronym S.O.A.P. and what it means. S.O.A.P. helps us remember that we should respect Sources, Others, Authority, the Platform that are given to us. Being good communicators for Christ involves good personal conduct, and respect can be an outstanding quality in our quest to speak for Christ.

After that, Coach Alfred led us to sing "Do Re Mi" from Sound of Music once again! We had much fun as we sang and performed the actions to the song. This activity helped us to come out of our shells.

After that, Coach Alfred revised with us the skills of making an introduction to our speeches.

We were then given the opportunity to practice what we learned. Some of us were given "My Hobby" as a topic. Others were given "My Most Memorable Holiday." A good practice for limited preparation speaking!

Later, Coach Joseph reminded us that only 5% of university-aged youth feel comfortable with speaking in public. We don't need to feel bad about not being perfect, but with practice, we can continue to improve in our platform speaking. In time, it will get much more comfortable and natural.

Then we had scrumptious cakes that Coach Stacey bought for tea break, coupled with  a good time of fellowship!
